Venus is the second planet from the sun. It is located between Mercury and Earth. Venus and Earth are almost the same size. It is the closest planet to Earth. However, it does not have seas or living things.
The weather on Venus is very different from ours. The thick clouds over Venus keep the heat in. The temperature during the day is so hot that even metal can melt. The surface of Venus is covered in dried lava from old volcanoes are not active anymore. Venus is special because it spins slowly and in an opposite direction from the other planets. Te clouds on Venus also reflect sunlight. That is why Venus looks so bright from Earth.

LET'S WRITE - Rewrite the poem in cursive writing.
I'm going to the moon,
On a Saturday afternoon,
I'm going in my rocket,
To put moonstones in my pocket.
I'm going to the moon,
And I'm leaving very soon,
I didn't need a ticket,
Because I'm going in my rocket.
I'm going to the moon,
I'm leaving at noon,
On a grand adventure,
To build a great future.

The Earth is a planet in the Solar System. The other planets in our Solar System are Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. All these planets travel around the Sun. We can see the Sun in daytime, but at night we can see the Moon. The Moon is a natural satellite that travels around the Earth. Besides the Moon, we can also see many bright stars in the sky at night.
PAIRWORK - Discuss the picture above.
Lim: What can you see in the night sky at night?
Aminah: I can see the Moon in the night sky at night?
Jagjit: Besides the Earth, what other planets belong to the Solar System?
Hui En: Besides the Earth, Mercury also belongs to the Solar System.
